Godzilla Melee Remastered Unlockable Kaiju and Shop Priorities

The six organic monsters you buy after the starters, plus Orga.

Unlockable Kaiju

Once Heisei Godzilla, Anguirus, and Megalon make sense, the shop is where Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered becomes a collection. This page covers the organic unlocks: Godzilla 2000, Gigan, King Ghidorah, Destoroyah, Rodan, Orga. The machines — Showa Mechagodzilla, Mecha-King Ghidorah, Kiryu — have their own hub at mecha kaiju because beam identity and armor flags differ. Prices are unknown. Order is free. That combination is how people bankrupt themselves on day one. Use unlocks for the system and this page for the bodies.

Godzilla 2000

The other Godzilla. Faster, slightly less beam-forward than Heisei according to classic notes, still a complete fighter. Buy him if you like the Millennium suit or if you want a second G-man for Team Battle so both cousins can stand on San Francisco. Do not buy him as a “strict upgrade.” He is a sidegrade. IGN’s original page said pick whichever looks cooler. That remains the correct non-tournament advice.

Use him to learn that two characters can share a verb set and still lose the same way to Destoroyah. Then go lab that matchup instead of buying a third lizard.

Gigan

The first real style change. Edged tools, hook-arm energy, fierce attacks that used to ignore weak hits while he swung. He is the unlock you want if Anguirus felt too honest. He is also how people get clipped in four-player melee because they swing fierce at two targets and eat a beam from the third. Play him on Tokyo where walls stop his dash from becoming a tour of the bay.

Gigan used to appear after Anguirus’s Adventure clear. You can now buy him because you like the crest. That is allowed. Just do not skip how to play on the way.

King Ghidorah

IGN’s booth time started on Ghidorah. The reporter worried about the missing arms, then found the gravity beams. That is the kit: size, three mouths, flight, terrible ideas if you empty the bar. He is a party pick and a 1v1 problem. Online will be full of him after the roster trailer. Learn the anti-air on controls (aim head, tap projectile) before you queue.

Historically strong against Megalon, historically annoyed by Rodan. Those notes are 2002. They are still the right training partners.

Destoroyah

The monster people mean when they say “who is broken.” Horn, beam, Oxygen Destroyer Rage, a kit that punished Godzilla players who only knew one movie. He sits at the top of our versus tier list with a disclaimer: booth builds are not patches. Buy him when you can already win as Heisei without holding beam. If you buy him first, you will learn the wrong lesson — that damage solves footsies.

Use Los Angeles if you are recreating the old Adventure path. Use Monster Island if you want to lab without buildings stealing the camera.

Rodan

The flyer tax. Uranium heat beam, dive attacks, a player who lives in the sky until the energy bar files a complaint. He is mandatory learning even if you never main him, because someone in online melee will. Seattle was his house in the Heisei path. Practice looking up.

If you main Rodan, your job is to land. Hovering is a taunt that costs meter. Grab-heavy starters on this wiki exist to punish you.

Orga

The completionist. Shoulder cannon, strange silhouettes, a monster from Godzilla 2000 who was gated behind almost the entire 2002 graph. The remaster’s any-order shop is the first time most players will try him without a FAQ. That means Orga knowledge is scarce, which is a reason to buy him third or fourth rather than never. It is not a reason to buy him before a flyer and a mech.

Classic Xbox FAQs are still the move-list backbone. They will feel dusty next to Unreal Engine 5, and they will still tell you what the shoulder does.

A shop order that does not waste the demo

  1. Gigan or Godzilla 2000 — second melee identity.
  2. Rodan — so flyers stop being magic.
  3. One mech from the mecha page.
  4. King Ghidorah or Destoroyah — after you can beat CPU versions.
  5. Orga — because you can, not because you must.

Gallery stills are not on this list. Stages you love are, but they live on maps. Currency spent on night Tokyo is valid if that is where your friends play.

When the Steam demo prints actual costs, we will add them. Until then, the unlockable row is a skill tree, not a gacha. Buy a lesson, not a name.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Who should I buy first?

Gigan or Godzilla 2000, unless you already know DAMM. Then a flyer, then a mech. Full order above.

Is Destoroyah unlockable or free?

Unlockable in 2002, and expected to cost currency in 2026. He is not a starter.

Where is Mechagodzilla?

On Mecha kaiju, with Kiryu and Mecha-King Ghidorah.

Can I buy Orga without beating every campaign?

Yes. The remaster sells unlocks in any order. That is the point of Unlocks.
